Shared conservation takes off during ICBA’s first Twitter chat

By Ann Chen

Garnering nearly 700 tweets and drawing more than 100 participants, ICBA’s first Twitter chat in December was a huge success. Focusing on the topic of going local for the holidays, the Twitter chat participants discussed numerous topics, such as why it’s important to go local year-round as well as statistics that promote the local cause.

All chat participants tweeted with the hashtag #GoLocalHolidays and discussed unique ideas that communities are enacting to promote local shopping, banking and dining in their communities.

Guest tweeters included the Small Business Administration; Chesapeake Bank of Virginia; local Washington, D.C., news anchor Holly Morris; the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies; the National Federation of Independent Business and the American Independent Business Alliance. Below is a snapshot of the conversation.

Look out for future Twitter chats via @ICBA.
