The Bank of New Glarus first opened its doors on Oct. 30, 1893. Now, here we are, on the cusp of our 125th anniversary and going strong! While much has changed in our industry over these 125 years, we’ve held steadfast to our mission statement: its purpose, vision and values.

Our purpose: We’re an independent bank that provides financial guidance and solutions through our relationships with our customers and communities. We’re proud to assist them in their financial growth, enable them to make wise economic choices and be their partner as they achieve their dreams and goals.

Our vision: Our leaders set the tone for our success. They build a shared spirit by clearly and powerfully articulating an inspiring vision for the bank, and enlist staff at all levels to achieve that vision.

Our customers refer to us as “my bank.” We stay tuned in to their lifestyles and needs. They have absolute confidence that we will continue to be a rock solid, progressive and technologically sound financial resource for them.

We generously support our communities, not only through the proven benefits of community banking, but also with our money and the time and talents of our employees.

And, our shareholders have unwavering confidence in the dedication and ability of our board, management and staff to govern and operate a prosperous, well-respected bank that is consistently professional, innovative and ethical. They are continually delighted with the bank’s performance and with the rewards they realize from their commitment of resources.

Our values: We follow these principles in the conduct of our work:

  • Honesty and integrity: We keep our word. You can trust us, no matter who you are—customer, employee, vendor, shareholder, regulator or competitor.
  • Teamwork: We acknowledge that our strength comes from excellence in both individual and team contributions.
  • Empowerment and leadership: Our team provides solutions to solve problems in an innovative and proactive way that meets our customers’ unique needs.
  • Citizenship: We honor the heritage and traditions of our communities.

Again, while much has changed over the past 125 years, our core objectives remain the same: an unwavering commitment to both the communities we serve and to our employees.

We’ve successfully adapted to the challenges and opportunities that have been presented to us. We’ll continue to execute our mission and to invest in our employees. We’re humbled by and grateful for the relationships and partnerships we’ve forged with our customers, and are proud to be their trusted financial advisor.

As for the next 125 years—why not?!
